BRIDESMAIDS
NGUYEN Ta
Matron of Honor
What can I say about my oldest sister? Even though as a kid, she shoved me in cardboard boxes convincing me it was a game, and dressed me up like Robert Smith from The Cure; she’s done some amazing things for me. She took me to my first concert to see the Smashing Pumpkins. She, along with Phuong, stuck up for me against bullies in the fifth grade, and even made my prom dress! Needless to say, she’s always been there for me. She almost made my wedding dress too!
PHUONG Ta
Maid of Honor
Phuong is one of the most fearless and smartest people I know. Whether we’re quoting Class-Act or White Chicks (classic movies!), we have a weird sense of humor that no one else gets. She always knows how to make me laugh. Including the time I was sick and she danced to Christina Aguilera’s “Genie in a Bottle” to only be followed years later with an interpretative dance of The Killers’ “Mr. Brightside.” I expect this will happen again before, during, and after the wedding.
FELICITY Nava
“GIIIRL!!! Let me tell you something…” When I’m around Felicity, she brings the SoHo (South Houston) out of me (completely true). When I first started working at Leverage Marketing, it was pretty quiet…until Felicity joined and it became fun! Perhaps too much fun for our own good at times. She was there when Matt and I first dated and has seen our relationship grow into what it is today. Every time we get together our wallets seem to suffer a little bit, but since the day we met, I knew I had made a friend for life. Our kids (someday!) will probably be calling her Tia Fellie.
QUYNH Nguyen AKA ‘Sexy Girl’
I’ve known Quynh (“Ku-win”) since middle school and she has been one of my best friends since. The nick name “sexy girl” comes from my mom who one day saw Quynh walking in wearing platform sandals and had a sexy walk and the nickname stuck. To this day, my mom asks “How’s Sexy Girl doing?” She has seen just about every experimental look I’ve gone through since middle-school. She’s seen me as a goth/punk, androgynous dresser (I seriously looked like Harry Potter), to actual girly girl. No matter how long it’s been, we never miss a beat. And without trying, we somehow go through the same things at the same time. She’s one of the few people I can tell anything to and know that she’ll always be there for me.
